Why buying a house is better than owning a condo ?

Has it ever crossed your mind about having your own place? A place that you can call your own? Whenever this topic goes out, usually the first thought that comes to your mind is a house. Is that right? No family wouldn’t want to own their own house. Having a house is one of the things that families wish to have. No more monthly rental fees.

When you’re going to look for your own place to buy a house or a condominium for that matter, you have a lot of things to consider. Your safety, your location, the space (whether it’s spacious enough for you), and other things. Now, what do you think you should buy? A house or a condominium? Which is better? A number would probably say “house”. Why is that though?

Why is buying a house better than owning a condominium? Especially when you have a family of your own.
  • More Space. Houses have more space in compare to condominium units. You won’t have a problem with space when you already have children and probably add more.

  • Ambiance. Condominiums mostly attracts young graduates, professionals, retirees and young couples. Young graduates and professionals want to claim their own place to stay. Retirees mostly likes to travel so they don’t need to maintain their units because condos have low maintenance. As for young couples, especially those plan on enjoying each other’s company before starting a family. One common thing about them is that in living in a condominium, this gives them a great chance to socialize more. However, for families, a homey atmosphere is important, especially for the kids.

  • Lot. When you own a condominium unit, you actually only own air space and no land. A house, on the other hand, also consists of land. In addition, if you have your own house, you can increase the number of floors, how ever you want to divide the space for you and your family.

  • Share. In a condominium, you actually share land with every other unit owners, since you only own air space. As for owning a house, the land is yours, the house is yours.

  • Monthly dues. For a condominium unit owner, since you’re sharing a building with other people and there are people working for you as well, of course you have to pay aside from your necessities. You have to pay for the security, for the maintenance, for building insurance, for garbage disposal and others. There is also a possibility that you will be paying for the improvement of the building as well. However, if you have your own house, you don’t need to think about the payments for your land. All you have to worry about are the monthly dues for electricity, water and your kids’ tuition fees.

These are just some of the reasons why it’s better to own a house than a condominium unit. Although, there’s nothing bad in getting your own condo, a house is better, especially when you have your own family. So get that house of yours and live happily with your family.
